Frequently asked questions

All eligible May 2026 graduates are able to attend Commencement. The Graduation Application is your RSVP for the Commencement Ceremony. It provides the committee with your updated information for the ceremony and the diploma. Designated faculty (certifiers) will pre-certify students within each academic program to ensure the eligibility of all candidates. The pre-certification process dates for 2026 are February 1, 2026 - March 1, 2026.

Once approved for Commencement, all eligible May 2026 graduates will receive an email with instructions on how to complete the graduation application. August 2026 and December 2026 graduates will receive communications to their UB email address. The graduation application is due March 31, 2026.

Ô½ÄÏÖ±²¥ will host two May 2026 in-person Commencement Ceremonies. The ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Each graduating student will receive 8 tickets for their guests

The ceremonies will be held in the new Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, CT. The address is 500 Broad St, Bridgeport CT 06604.

As a university, we must adhere to the CDC and State of Connecticut guidance regarding large gatherings. If the regulations change during our planning process and we are no longer able to host these in-person ceremonies, we will shift to a virtual ceremony. Any changes will be communicated via your UB email and the UB Commencement website.

The $150 graduation fee covers the cost of auditing and maintenance of the student’s academic record. It is not a charge for the ceremony.

The Office of the Registrar will mail out the diploma to either the address entered on the Commencement Participation form, or the address we have on record, for all May 2026 graduating students. This will occur after the final certification of the degree process is completed. At the conclusion of the Commencement Ceremony, grades are reviewed, and degree requirements are confirmed.

Each program or college will reach out to its graduates directly to share specifics of their event.

Your honor stoles and/or cords will be made available to you from your department chair. Contact your department chair regarding eligibility and distribution of Latin cords. Please note Latin honors are based on UB credits earned and the cumulative GPA received by the fall 2025 semester. Latin honors are only observed for undergraduate students.

Students and faculty in need of regalia, must order directly through . Orders must be placed no later than March 26 to be shipped to home or to the bookstore.

Graduation Photos with Legacy Photos will be held at UB’s Wahlstrom Library in the Heckman Learning Commons (2nd floor) from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., by appointment only. .
